HELIUM ONE MAKES SIGNIFICANT STRIDES IN ADVANCING HELIUM PRODUCTION IN TANZANIA

Helium One has made substantial progress in its efforts to boost helium production in Tanzania, including the successful submission of a comprehensive Mining Licence (ML) application in September 2024. This application covers key areas such as Itumbula, Tai, and the Southern prospective zones.

Lorna Blaisse, CEO of Helium Global, highlighted that the submission includes a detailed feasibility study for the Southern Rukwa Helium Project, which incorporates advanced subsurface modeling and a robust commercial development plan.

A significant milestone for the company was the success of the Itumbula West-1 (ITW-1) well, which achieved impressive results during an extended well test in September 2024.

The well sustained an average flow of 5.5% helium (air corrected) from the fractured Basement and 5.2% helium from the faulted Karoo Group. The test also recorded helium concentrations as high as 7.9% at surface, with no associated hydrocarbons, which underscores the region’s strong helium potential.

These achievements mark a pivotal moment in the development of the Southern Rukwa Helium Project, following the completion of the ITW-1 well in August 2024. The company now looks forward to advancing the project into its next phase, positioning Tanzania as a leading player in the global helium market.

This progress is a critical step in supporting Tanzania’s strategic role in expanding the global helium sector, with the potential for significant contributions to sustainable development through responsible resource management.
